Foxconn X58 mobo preview
Again this does not have a lot to do with call of duty world at war, but i have recently seen a few posts around the internet on gaming forums & other related sites where people have been saying “I am waiting for the X58 boards and the new Core i7 to come out” before they will purchase a game or even holding off upgrading their computers for some upcoming titles. Now call of duty is running on the same gaming engine as call of duty 4, if your system can play that then there is no real need to upgrade. Now some people seem to think this X58 & Core i7 is going to be a huge performance booster, INCORRECT !!.. Please
This new technology while it is on a whole a big improvement its aimed at overclockers & multithreading tasks and in a real gaming environment you are only going to see an improvement of 5%-10% you should understand that at this point in time you video card is the main factor, Cpu, Mobo prices & computer parts in general are really cheap at the moment and if your holding out for all this new gear then well your wasting alot of money to start with as 10% MAX extra juice in your PC isn’t all that much. Anyway just thought that was worthy of noting as many threads around the net are very misleading to the average gamer.
Check out the Current Prices before you make a decision to wait for the X58 & Core i7 series.
Tiger Direct have great prices & a few really good bargains at the moment.

Here a Quick Preview of the Foxconn board for all you Fellow Hardware Nerds..

* X58 tylersburg chipset
* ICH10-R southbridge
* 6 phase power circuit for CPU

* Maximum memory amount xx?
* All basic connectors you need in today computing
* Selectable QPI 4800GT/s, 6400GT/s (Gigatransfers/s)

Well not sure what to say after viewing these, Foxconn have gone for a sexy look however im not sure if they did any research on their cooling system they have in place as it looks like a speaker lol never the less a lot of ears will be listening out for information about this. At the current point in time and upto the13th of November 08 when NDA will be lifted.. Extreme versions of this board (Overclocking / Premium) boards will be released not long after.. A smart choice if you have a fat wallet, but as with everything in life the first revisions are always sporting bugs & other minor issues so i can only suggest to wait, But the E8400 for example pair with a 9600gt is going to be enough to get you gaming with some nice eye candy settings.
Soon as more call of duty world at war news comes to hand you will hear it here first.

re:people should not wait for an upgrade
well, it might be true that the increase is just 5-10% but there are people like me who are actually for a long term investment. there are people who are after the new architecture and the socket that the new nehalem has which ensures them at least 2 years of an upgrade path. socket 775 been around for years now and it will be replaced by a new architecture so i was just thinking it is not that bad to wait for an upgrade.
I beleive, there is nothing really called upgrade anymore. Any upgrade will boost the system by a maximum of 30% over a 3 years period, any major upgrade would mean changing the motherboard and CPU and VGA card. The only possible upgrades are usually memory (HDD and RAM0 while using the same MOBO and CPU. it is really not worth to wait for this Nehalem now, as it seems it is going to be too expensive and fastly replaced by new MOBOs, the first MOBO is transitory and doesnt seem to be upgreadable as it is still has older technology aspects from the X48 and P45 MOBOs, in one year+ the 32nm CPUs will come out and will need better MOBOs. I feel what happened with the Dual core CPU will happen now, just barely 1 year and the core2 duo eliminated it. “just speculating :)”
